Addressing a press conference at his residence on Thursday, he said, "Pakistan is facing multiple challenges. The situation in Sindh is very delicate due to bad governance, corruption and lawlessness. We request the army to play its role to get rid of the corrupt Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government," he said.
"The police played a major role in rigging the polls and paved the way for the PPP candidates to win," he said, referring to the second phase of the local government elections held in his constituency, Dadu. Jatoi added that despite Sindh High Court orders, there were no security measures and only politically-appointed cops and government employees were at various polling stations.
He demanded re-polls in Dadu district under the army's supervision and claimed he would get more than 70 per cent of the votes if re-elections were held. "I will give up politics if I cannot get 70 per cent votes from Dadu in free and fair elections," he vowed.
"We fail to understand whether [Nawaz Sharif] is the prime minister of Punjab or of the other provinces as well. The discrimination against other provinces will further deepen the sense of deprivation, which is not in favor of the federal government," said Jatoi.
