Lack of funds threatening aid programmes: UN
UNITED NATIONS:
The United Nations (UN) on Friday said that lack of funds is threatening aid programmes to some of the most tense areas of Pakistan.
The UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs said that UN agencies and NGOs are facing a serious shortage of funds. The funds jeopardise basic life-saving activities in Khyber Pahtunkhwa and FATA.
The UN is involved in providing funding to housing, food and health care to thousands of people in Pakistan.
Fighting has displaced about 300,000 people in Orakzai and Kurram agencies in addition to the 1.3 million people already displaced by the war on terror.
OCHA spokeswoman said that lack of funds will have serious consequences for Pakistan.
