Paper merchants: Need for investment, better tax system

Association president said energy crisis, weak institutions and political instability had been the major obstructions

Unprecedented infrastructural development and business conferences in Punjab are sending a good message to the outer world, said All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association President Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayen, while urging the government to focus more on single-country exhibitions and trade fairs. “Massive foreign investment would enable the country get optimum benefits from modern technology and expertise; it would also raise substantially the level of employment opportunities,” he said. He said the tax system was another area where reforms should be ensured. The association president said energy crisis, weak institutions and political instability had been the major obstructions to the promotion of investment and suggested that the government should formulate all economic and trade-related policies while taking the private sector on board.
