KARACHI:
Rabia Butt has categorically denied recent reports suggesting her unceremonious exit from the entertainment industry. Considering herself to be at the pinnacle of success, the model shrugged off the news, claiming that it is plain hearsay. She said there are “no ifs or buts” about her leaving the industry when she has already made a mark in fashion and is just getting set to prove her mettle in film with the upcoming movie Hijrat.

“Who is your source? Who is it that has provided you with the liberty to decide [that I have quit] for me? It seems like a decision you and your source have made for me,” a peeved Butt, who seemed like she was fed to the gills with the ongoing ‘rumours’, told The Express Tribune.

“Rumours and baseless stories are good for selling newspapers. Whatever Rabia Butt decides, you will hear about from her and only her,” she added. “I think the billboards across the country and magazine covers featuring me along with my upcoming film are testament to my level of involvement in the fashion and film industries,” said Butt.

Rabia Butt bids farewell to entertainment industry

Earlier, Roznama Express had reported that Butt had been contemplating the possibility of parting ways from the entertainment industry, which could not materialise as many of her projects were already in production. “I had already made the decision of announcing my departure from the media setup after my mother’s death. Apart from this, there are no other reasons for leaving the industry,” she was quoted as saying.

But things seem fine and dandy for Butt, “I have successfully finished working on my debut film. Currently, I’m reading scripts for other films and have turned down quite a few, which I felt were not suitable for me. I cannot reveal my future projects just yet,” she said.

This is not the first time that Butt has been in the news for contemplating calling it quits. Prior to this, Butt had spoken to the media about how she may consider leaving the modelling profession because it is ‘haraam’. But she is not worried about her well-wishers getting repulsed by what she now deems as ‘false information’. “My well-wishers know my intentions and can tell a lie from the truth. They will never draw conclusions on the basis of what they read in the newspapers, which create hype through spreading false information.”

PLBW 2015: Making a vow to wow the audience

The model went on to say, “I am patient and don’t make hasty decisions. I know what I want and before it comes my way, I will not try things just for the sake of being on the big screen.” Interestingly, she had earlier been reported to have said that she is very impulsive when it comes to making decisions.
