A total of 3,189 dengue patients have been reported this year in Sindh so far, including 3,115 from Karachi alone

KARACHI:
An 18-year-old girl died of dengue fever bringing the total death toll in Karachi to nine this year. Uroosa, a resident of North Nazimabad, died after she was allegedly diagnosed late by the local doctors. She was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) in critical condition on Saturday. The young girl died a day later while undergoing treatment. "She could have survived if she had been diagnosed properly and on time," said Dengue Prevention and Control Programme director Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi. He said that the doctors at the public hospital tried their best to treat the girl but it was too late. Her parents took her to different hospitals before shifting her to ASH, he said. A total of 3,189 dengue patients have been reported this year in Sindh so far, including 3,115 from Karachi alone.
