Two days after the military asked for "governance initiatives" to complement its fight against terrorism, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said the people of Pakistan too demand better governance from the civiilian government.

“Governance is not only the demand of the army but of the Pakistani people,” Imran told media as he arrived in Karachi on Thursday.

The PTI leader will stay in Sindh for two days to campaign for the forthcoming 2nd phase of the local government (LG) polls in the province.

Lack of governance initiatives worries army

Imran said unlike Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the police was independent, the Sindh government was using the force to its advantage in the elections.

He reiterated that the NA-122 by-poll was controversial, given the alleged expulsion of votes by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) from the constituency.

“We will seek justice over the technical rigging done in the NA-122 by-poll as there were grave irregularities in the voters list,” he said.

Imran said his party will introduce the LG system, similar to that of K-P in the entire country.

“We will make new hospitals and schools in Sindh if we came to power,” he said, adding all the schools will work under the local government.

Stressing on the need for a comprehensive transportation system in Karachi, the PTI chairman said despite a need, no such project was launched in the metropolis.

“Karachi has been neglected,” he said.

He also addressed his party activists in Hyderabad.

“I will continue to fight for a new Pakistan until my last breath,” said Imran.
