KARACHI: An aggressive attack by Sohail Khan and Muhammad Amir guided SSGC to an-innings-and-379-run win over Hyderabad in the second round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Hyderabad resumed their first innings on the third day on 51-7 and were able to add only 29 runs before losing their remaining three wickets as Amir claimed five scalps, while Tabish Khan took two wickets.

The hosts were asked to follow on but they were unable to stop SSGC’s attack and were dismissed for 70 runs as Sohail took seven wickets, while Tabish claimed three wickets.

In the other match at the National Stadium of Karachi, HBL, after being bowled out on 181 in their first innings and being asked to follow on, made 302-3 in their second innings courtesy Nauman Anwar’s 188-run-knock and Ramiz Aziz’s 55. Both batsmen were on the crease at the end of play with HBL leading by 191 runs. Earlier Karachi Whites had scored 292 runs in their first innings.

At the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, NBP resumed their first innings on 379-5 and were able to add 78 runs to their total as Muhammad Nawaz scored 111 runs with Nasir Jamshed adding 81. At the end of play FATA had just started their innings and trailed by 200 runs having registered zero runs.

In the match between Port Qasim and Lahore Blues, Port Qasim declared their second innings on 287-7, while at the end of play Lahore Blues were batting on 88-3, requiring 328 more runs on the last day.

Meanwhile, no play was possible due to rain at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad, Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar and Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi, while only 6.4 overs were possible at the LCCA Ground in Lahore with Lahore Whites on 58-5.
