Football unites nations at world football day event in Islamabad

Shahzeb double leads PFF XI to 3-1 win over UN XI

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Football Federation XI produced an impressive performance to defeat United Nations (UN) XI 3-1 in a vibrant exhibition match held to celebrate World Football Day at the Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad.

The event which organised by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) brought together diplomats, football personalities, and international representatives to promote the message of peace, unity, and brotherhood through sports.

The exhibition match was attended by United Nations Pakistan Resident Coordinator Mohamed Yahya, diplomats from France, Romania, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe, Pakistan Football Federation President Syed Mohsin Gilani, Pakistan football team head coach Nolberto Solano, former Pakistan captain Essa Khan and several other distinguished guests.

PFF XI dominated the contest with Shahzeb scoring twice, while Essa Khan added another goal to seal the victory. Nnu Gibson scored the lone goal for the UN XI.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohamed Yahya said Pakistan possesses immense football talent and the United Nations would continue supporting efforts for the promotion and development of football in the country.

PFF President Syed Mohsin Gilani said football is rapidly growing in Pakistan and the federation is committed to creating more opportunities for young players and taking the game to every corner of the country.

The World Football Day celebration concluded with a strong message that sports are not merely a source of entertainment, but also a powerful tool to promote peace, friendship, and global harmony.
