Jul-Oct: Cement sales grow 3.8%

In the southern region, mills experienced even more growth in domestic markets

Cement dispatches during the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year clocked in at 11.398 million tons, increasing 3.79% from 10.981 million during the same period of the previous year, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association (APCMA).


Domestic sales during this period amounted to 9.37 million tons against 8.192 million during July-Oct 2014, increasing 14.38%. The growth is the fastest in the last eight years, added the APCMA statement.


However, exports amounted to only 2.028 million tons against 2.79 million last year, a massive decline of 27.31%.  Analysing zone-wise dispatches, north-based mills sold 7.803 million tons to domestic markets during July-October, 13.65% higher than the comparative period last year. Exports declined to 1.292 million tons - 25.85% lower over the previous year.


In the southern region, mills experienced even more growth in domestic markets as against dispatches of 1.325 million tons during July-Oct 2014, the amount increased by 18.21% to 1.566 million tons.
