A two-day province-wide summit ‘Invention to Innovation’ began on Tuesday at University of Haripur. Students from various colleges presented their technological inventions, while entrepreneurs from Hattar Industrial Estate also showcased their herbal and agriculture products. “A culture of research should be promoted,” said chief guest Federal Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary Fazal Abbas Maken. “The government should allocate funds to improve relations between industry, health sector and universities.” “The government has begun a new project, searching for science talent, under which it would grant scholarships to at least 300 government school students to study at the master’s and doctorate levels,” said Maken. Dr Muhammad Ashraf, chairperson of Pakistan Science Foundation, said “We obtained foreign funding to promote science and technology in Pakistan.”
