Targeted violence? Shia cleric, guard injured in attack

They said the guard did not carry a weapon due to a ban on displaying arms

RAWALPINDI:
A Shia cleric and his security guard were injured after gunmen opened fire on them in the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad police station on Thursday. Police said Allama Nazir Hussain Imrani, caretaker of an imambargah in Iqbal Town, was travelling in his car when he was attacked by gunmen riding a motorcycle on Farooq-e-Azam Road. His guard, Muhammad Hilal, also suffered injuries. A team of Rescue 1122 shifted the two to Benazir Bhutto Hospital. Police said Imrani was in critical condition. They said the guard did not carry a weapon due to a ban on displaying arms.
