Ending corruption: NAB chairman reviews performance of regional offices

Regional bureaus were evaluated under a newly-introduced grading system

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudary reviewed the performance of all regional offices of the bureau for the third quarter of this year during a meeting on Thursday.

Last year, the chairman had deputed a senior member of the Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) to conduct an annual inspection of all the regional bureaus, to review and evaluate their performances.

The CI&MT briefed the meeting over the inspection of all regional bureaus, highlighting their strengths and weakness on the basis of the newly-introduced Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS).

The chairman had visited all the regional bureaus of NAB to authenticate the inspection conducted by CI&MT and had directed officials of the regional bureaus to work more diligently in order to improve their performance.

The CI&MT gave a presentation and underlined that performance an Operational Efficiency Index of every regional bureau of NAB has been evaluated on the basis of PQGS, approved last year. Furthermore, improvements were made on the basis of last year’s inspection and feedback was received from the respective regional bureaus of NAB.

A senior member of the CI&MT briefed the NAB chairman on the inspection conducted under the PQGS Under this grading system, the performance of all regional bureaus was evaluated at uniform criteria. According to this criteria 80 per cent marks will be considered “Outstanding”, marks between 60 to 70 per cent will be considered “Very Good”, marks between 40 to 49 per cent will be considered “Good”, while marks less than 40 per cent will be considered “Below Average”.
