ISLAMABAD:
Hospitals of the federal capital have been directed to declare a state of emergency in the wake of the earthquake that struck the country on Monday. Minister of State Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Barrister Usman Ibrahim directed that Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Polyclinic and National Institute of Rehabilitation be placed on high alert. The minister also cancelled leaves for doctors and paramedical staff. Meanwhile, an event in connection with this month’s breast cancer awareness theme, scheduled for October 29, was postponed according to a press release. Around 8,000 female students from federal colleges were to assemble in Pakistan Sports Complex for the ‘world’s largest human pink ribbon event’. The event required the support of PIMS and Polyclinic, and has been postponed till further orders.
