Public health: Bahawalpur to get Children’s Hospital

The DCO said Rs750 million had been allocated for the project this year

BAHAWALPUR: The government has approved the construction of a Children’s Hospital in Bahawalpur. The construction of the facility will be completed at a cost of Rs4.7 billion. Work on the project will start this year, DCO Imran Sikandar Baloch, the project director, said on Monday. The DCO said Rs750 million had been allocated for the project this year. He said another health sector project approved for the city was a burn unit at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH). He said the burn unit would be built  at a cost of Rs450 million. “Work on a Thalassemia and Bone Marrow Transplant Centre at Children’s Hospital is in progress,” he said. The DCO said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had also approved the establishment of Veterinary University in Bahawalpur.
