Asked to bat first, Hyderabad made 305-3 with Ghumman batting on 168 and Rizwan Ahmed on 55 at the end of the day’s play.
In another match, Lahore Blues made 265-5 against SSGC as Tahir Tayyab scored 87 with Saad Nasim batting on 56 at stumps. Zafar Gohar was the pick of the bowlers for the departmental side with three wickets to his name.

In the Pool B fixture at the National Stadium of Karachi, Karachi Whites were 210-2 as Haris Ali Khan scored 75 and Jaahid Shaukat Ali 57. The match is noteworthy as it marks the first-class return of Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, with the duo turning out for Wapda, but Asif was unable to take any wickets on day one.
At the LCCA Ground in Lahore, home side Lahore Whites were in trouble after being dismissed for just 178 against NBP. Muhammad Asghar and Ziaul Haq claimed four and three wickets respectively for the bankers. At the end of play, NBP were batting on 11-1.
Meanwhile, no play was possible at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad, Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi and Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot due to rain.
