MIRPUR: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government will confer medals and cash awards on nine police officers including two junior officials as an acknowledgment of their outstanding performance, official sources said on Sunday. AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob will confer the medals and cash awards at a ceremony to be hosted at the Kashmir House in Islamabad on Monday, the sources said. Officers nominated for the awards include Mirpur Division DIG Dr Khalid Mahmood Chauhan, Mirpur SSP Raja Irfan Salim, Muzaffarabad Headquarters DIG Sardar Gulfraz Khan, Mirpur Headquarters DSP Khawaja Abdul Qayyum, Bhimber Headquarters DSP Raja Nadim Arif, Bhimber Sub-Inspector (SI) Muhammad Sagheer (late), Bhimber SI Ashfaq Hussain and driver Allah Ditta of Bhimbher district police. The sources said SSP Salim has been simultaneously nominated for the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal and the President Police Medal while the rest have been nominated for the President Police Medal along with cash awards.
