United States Vice President Joe Biden lauded on Thursday Pakistan’s role in war against terrorism, Radio Pakistan reported.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Washington, where he is on a four-day official visit, Biden appreciated the government’s role in war against terrorism, vowing US cooperation until objectives were achieved.
The premier informed Biden about the government’s priorities and economic reforms carried out since the the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) came into power.

“Pakistan has made remarkable economic progress in last two years,” Nawaz was quoted as saying.
The two leaders also discussed Pakistan-US relations, expressing the resolve for working on peace and prosperity in the region.
PM Nawaz is scheduled to meet US President Barack Obama later during the day.
The meeting comes as the White House increasingly shifts its focus in South Asia to Pakistan’s bitter rival India.

Obama recently announced that US troops would be staying in Afghanistan longer than he had promised, but the White House is keen to get the Taliban to the negotiating table.
The US sees Pakistan as one of the few sources of influence over extremists, and analysts say Washington will urge the prime minister to keep pushing for a new round of talks.
