Militant associated with banned outfit arrested in Kalat
QUETTA:
Two policemen were gunned down in Chaman while a Balochistan Constabulary constable was shot dead in Quetta on Tuesday.
In Chaman’s Bhugra Road area, two policemen of the Falcon Squad were killed by armed assailants on a motorcycle who opened fire at a police check post.
District Police Officer Asad Khan Nasir said the victims died on the spot and the attackers managed to escape. The policemen were identified as Safar Muhammad and Abdullah.
Two suspects indicted in 15-year-old policemen murder case
Police and Frontier Corps personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Chaman.
“The Falcon Police personnel were standing at a check post when the unknown armed men targeted them,” DPO Nasir said, adding that might have been a targeted killing but investigations were under way.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Constable shot dead
Meanwhile, a constable of the Balochistan Constabulary was killed in a drive-by shooting in Quetta.
Police said Faizullah Abdul Ali, a resident of Qilla Abdullah, was on his way to work when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at him in the Sariab area.
The victim died on the spot as the attackers fled the scene. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Quetta. The motive behind Faizullah’s killing could not be determined.
‘Militant’ arrested
A militant associated with a banned organisation was arrested during a search operation in Kalat.
At least 11 killed, several injured in Quetta bus explosion
Balochistan Frontier Corps spokesman said an operation was carried out against militant hideouts in Kalat’s mountainous areas, from where the man was arrested. Some automatic weapons were also found on him.
The suspect has been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Terror bid foiled
In Dera Bugti, security personnel foiled a terror bid after recovering 40kg of explosives during a raid.
The Frontier Corps spokesman said the force carried out a search operation on a tip-off about a militant hideout in the Pohli area.
Around 40kg of explosives, including three homemade improvised explosive devices and two pipe bombs, and 150 metres of electric wire as well as a number of detonators were seized in the operation.
