Gainful opportunities: Commission for Status of Women to inform callers about govt jobs
‘Women callers ask about job vacancies the most’
LAHORE:
The Punjab Commission on Status of Women (PCSW) has decided to link government job portals with its toll free helpline in order to provide information regarding job vacancies to women callers.
A spokesperson of the PCSW said on Tuesday that all provincial departments had been asked to send electronic and hard copies of available job opportunities/advertisements to the PCSW – a statutory body that manages the government’s toll free women’s helpline.
Women can call up the helpline 0800-93372 and register complaints (against for example domestic violence), seek information about services and opportunities for the economic uplift of women and get information regarding their rights.
Since its inception in September 2014, hundreds of women have called the Helpline and have been provided with support, advice and information. The spokesperson said one of the most frequent queries received at the Helpline was information regarding job opportunities in the government sector. “The provincial government is committed to furthering the cause of women’s empowerment and has taken a number of initiatives in this regard. The PCSW has now decided to link women callers with government job portals to provide information on jobs,” the spokesperson said.
