Flood funds: Turkish government helping build homes

MoU signed between Turkey and Punjab government for construction of 2,120 modern homes in flood hit areas.

LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed between Turkey and the Punjab Government for the construction of 2,120 modern houses in flood affected districts.

TOKI Housing Development Administration of Turkey coordinator Caglar Horoz and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) director general Khalid Sher Dil signed the MOU. The Punjab Relief commissioner Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar and a nine member delegation from Turkey were also present on the occasion.

According to the MOU, 2,120 housing units for flood affected families will be constructed in the Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur districts. These housing units will be constructed at new locations in Mauza Rakh Khanpur in Muzaffargarh and in Mauza Rakh Fazilpur in Rajanpur. Khalid Sher Dil said that reconstruction activities in flood affected areas had been accelerated and the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was personally monitoring the rehabilitation work.

The new houses will have two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, courtyard and other facilities. Dil said that the housing colonies would also have a market, school, playground and vocational schools.
