KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued on Saturday non-bailable warrants of arrest for alleged gangster Shahid Bikak for repeatedly not appearing before the judge in four cases.

Bikak is an alleged ringleader having links with suspected gang lords of Lyari. He is alleged to have been running a drug and weapon cartel in Golimar, Nazimabad and adjacent neighbourhoods. He faces a number of cases in other courts, too, but possesses bail in all of them.

The ATC-VII judge, tasked with four cases of attempted murder, attacking law enforcers and possessing illicit weapons and explosives against the accused, directed the police to arrest Bikak and present him by November 3. According to a court official, the accused did not inform the court about his absence neither did he submit any condonation.

Bikak lives in the same vicinity falling within the jurisdiction of the police station.

The accused was also discharged by an ATC in March last year in a murder case of Pakistan Peoples Party's Bilal Sheikh.
