An accountability court sent former special adviser to chief minister Syed Masoom Shah on a 12-day protective remand in an accumulation of illegal assets case. He was produced on Friday before special judge Muhammad Ibrahim Khan after completing a 14-day judicial remand. The court ordered him to appear on October 27. Shah served as Shabqadar nazim from 2001 to 2005 and as the special assistant to former chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti between 2010 and 2013. Shah has been accused of accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income and of accepting bribes and misusing his political status. His property includes a house and a guesthouse on a 12-kanal piece of land in his village in Battagram district, two plots in Hayatabad, two in Regi Model Town and two houses in the DHA area of Karachi, among others.
