MUMBAI: Anil Kapoor is looking forward to meeting the team behind Shekhar Kapur’s Mr India at the Movie Mela at this year’s Jio Mami Mumbai Film Festival, slated to kick off later this month.

The festival has recently introduced the Movie Mela, a one-day celebration of cinema where fans can revisit the films and connect with the actors and filmmakers they love. This year, Anil and his former co-star Sridevi along with Satish Kaushik and producer Boney Kapoor will journey back in time to share their experiences from the making of the 1987 cult classic Mr India.

“I’m delighted to be a part of the Movie Mela. This unique concept of an all-encompassing cinematic celebration in a typically Indian style is exciting. Mr India is definitely one of the most loved films in the country. I can’t wait for our cast reunion,” Anil said in a statement.

“It’s also a special film because my character, Arun Verma, had an instant connect with fans across the subcontinent because of his warmth and humble nature,” he added. The event will take place on October 31 at Mehboob Studio, which will transform into a movie carnival with figurines of famous movie characters, merchandise and conversations with celebrity A-listers.

In addition to the Mr India panel, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor will conduct a master class, discussing his cinematic journey spanning over four decades. Director Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, writer of 3 Idiots, PK and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, will talk about creating blockbusters and creative collaborations.
