All hospitals should establish isolation wards immediately

KARACHI:

The health department has directed all public hospitals to establish 10-bed isolation wards and keep the Sindh Dengue Control Program (SDCP) office updated about the cases regularly.

Health secretary Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo held a meeting of health officials at the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Programme office on Thursday.

The attendees were informed that dengue kits were out of stock and KMC officials complained that the fumigation campaign was not being carried out due to a shortage of funds.

"All hospitals should establish isolation wards immediately," Mangnejo ordered. He also directed hospital managements to make daily reports, even if no cases are reported. The hospital managements have also been directed to utilise their emergency funds to purchase dengue kits till the SDCP resolves its financial issues.
