India should learn from our hospitality: Rashid

Shiv Sena’s attitude has aggrieved humanity and notice has been taken of this act, he said

Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid said Tuesday the prejudiced and narrow-minded approach of Shiv Sena towards former foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and publisher of his book in India, was worth condemnation.

He said Shiv Sena’s attitude has aggrieved humanity and notice has been taken of this act. He said Kasuri had gone to India for the launch of his book and he was the guest of that country.

Rashid said India should learn from Pakistan’s hospitality as we have always welcomed Indian sportsmen, poets, artists, and actors on our soil with open heart. “Our hospitality reflects that the people of Pakistan are peace loving and tolerant while the attitude of Shiv Sena was contrary to these traits,” the minister added.

He said recently several Indian personalities attended a Mushaira in Karachi and all were greeted with open hearts and arms. Moreover he said whenever Indian players won a match in Pakistan, Pakistani spectators applauded them.

Asked about recent by-polls in NA-122, Rashid said the victory of PML-N in the constituency has proven false rigging allegations of Imran Khan.

The way they insult hindus and Indians is unimaginable.... the hostility (towards specially Hindus ) is just unbelievable... yes Pakistani people are good in general but they are subservient to their establishment who don't want peace... some Indians are also hawkish and most are not against Pakistan... but remember india has not started any war.... it is pak who has to say sorry for starting the enemity

Pankaj | 9 years ago | Reply Will he comment on hundreds of Pakistanis getting treated in India, how about the Indian NGO which crowd funded money for treatment of a Pakistani girl or the Pakistanis saved by Indian army in Kashmir flood? There is no difference in person like Rashid and Shivsena, both are ambassador of hate and have common motive to never let people of both side unite at any cost. Unfortunately common intellectual citizens on both side are influenced so easlly by such people.

James | 9 years ago | Reply If India is such a inhospitable country, then why is that thousands of Pakistani patients getting treatment in Indian hospitals....some of them even are not charged, the previlege which many Indians do not receive.....Yes, India is inhospitable that's why Fawad Khan, Adnan Sami, etc...made India their second home...

MJ | 9 years ago | Reply It's rather sad and funny when politicians adopt such hollow rhetoric, and propose notions that oppose the actual social reality of our society. Pakistan is neither a hospitable nor a tolerant society; given the amount of honour-killings, extremist activities, irrational laws, and so on. Forget India, our society is reluctant to open its arms for the struggling minorities that reside in, and are citizens of Pakistan. Being a university-student in one of the most socially and economically rich cities of Pakistan, has allowed me to interact with a huge variety of people (both young and old) on a regular basis, and it is hard to ignore an underlying sense of hatred towards India in general, thanks to the twisted and biased versions of history that our society has been exposed to. There is growing xenophobia on both sides of the border. If both the nations carry on pointing fingers at each other and try to one-up in regards to humanity, tolerance, diversity, and other social criteria; nothing will be gained. By refusing to own the troubles within the society, we are preparing a false-ground for any sort of resolution. We must first accept and understand the reality, and then work together towards the peace-building process. A process which is hindered by subscribing to the blame-game. I am not anti-Pakistan, nor anti-India; I'm just an average citizen who appreciates the colonial-baggage, the culture, and the traditions that both the populations share, and hopes to see a time when there is peaceful coexistence and cooperation between both the nations.

That an India baiter like Mr. Kasuri has been allowed to launch his book from Bombay by itself shows Indian magnanimity. A man who has been an ardent follower of Gen. Mussaraf and a backhand dealer of Kargil, should have had some dignity and avoded Mumbai for his book launch, unless Pakistanis cannot find any place better than India for making money. And this Parvaiz Rashid must be quite shameless to compare an anti-India hawk with international sports persons. Can Mr. Parvaiz Rashid say that his Government will show hospitality to a book launch by Mr. Udhav Thakerey of Shiv Sena? Will he be even allowed to utter such a thing to the powers that be?

Ramachandra Rao | 9 years ago | Reply Who can forget the hospitable behaviour of Pakistan when the Indian Skipper K Srikanth was assaulted on the cricket pitch during the 1989 and his shirt torn off or the behaviour of Pakistani fans during the hockey world cup match between India and Holland at Lahore.@OSD the crowd threw bottles on Indian fielders and not South Africans- get your facts right before commenting

Come on - it was Indians pouring ink on an Indian. Ex-Foreign Minister Kasuri wasn't even touched !! Not defending the act, but it was a reaction indirectly related to an act that ACTUALLY aggrieved humanity - the 26/11 Mumbai massacre perpetrated by citizens of the country Ex-Foreign Minister Kasuri represents.

Forgot Ganguly and Harbhajan saying not even a single shop-keeper took money from them for whatever they purchased. As for your Sri-Lankan team comment, make sure to ask South African team how they felt about the rain of bottles just a couple of days ago.
