Law and order: Wanted men killed in ‘shootout’

The SHO said Safdar and Amir had been wanted by Multan and Vehari police

Two wanted men were killed in a shootout, police said on Thursday.


Naushera Jadeed SHO Allah Yar Saifi said a police team was taking Ghulam Safdar, a robbery suspect, to Multan when they were attacked by eight men near Jalalpur-Pirwala road. He said the men shot at the policemen in a bid to free Safdar. He said the suspect was killed by a bullet fired by one of his rescuers. He said another man, later identified as Muhammad Amir, was also injured. He said the police team managed to repulse the attack. The SHO said Amir died on his way to a hospital.


The SHO said Safdar and Amir had been wanted by Multan and Vehari police for several kidnappings, murders and robberies.
