Settlement: Murder convict pardoned by heirs of deceased

LAHORE:
An Afghan citizen convicted of killing a man on resisting robbery was pardoned on Tuesday by the heirs of the deceased. Hanifa Bibi, widow of the deceased Muhammad Sharif, and the couple’s daughters Saima Sharif, Yasmin Shahid, and Uzma Bibi recorded their statements in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Naseem Ahmed Virk. Hanifa Bibi also submitted a statement on behalf of her son, Shehbaz Sharif, residing in Australia who had given her the power of attorney to submit a statement on his behalf. The matter was then referred to the district and sessions judge for further directions. Hanifa Bibi was the complainant in the murder FIR registered against Saeed Muhammad, an Afghan, at the Shahdra police station.
