LG elections: ECP rejects 239 nomination forms

As many as 1,509 forms were submitted to contest for the 96 union committees in the HMC

Around 10 per cent of the 2,454 nomination forms submitted by candidates to contest the local government elections in Hyderabad have been rejected during the scrutiny process.


A total of 239 forms have been rejected in the scrutiny.


There are five separate local bodies in Hyderabad, including the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, District Council Hyderabad, Municipal Committee Qasimabad, Municipal Committee Tando Jam and Town Committee Husri.

As many as 1,509 forms were submitted to contest for the 96 union committees in the HMC.

Up to 357 of these forms were filed for the seats of chairperson and vice-chairperson of the union councils and 1,152 for the general seats. The candidates whose forms have been rejected can file appeals before the district and sessions judge Hyderabad by today whom the ECP has declared the appellate authority.
