RAWALPINDI: After 15 days of appointment of returning officers (ROs) across Punjab by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ahead of the local government polls, the Rawalpindi district administration has failed to facilitate the returning officer. According to sources, the district administration has conveyed to RO Javed Khan to approach the ECP to get facilities including an office and staff as the local administration lacks funds to provide these basic facilities. The source said that the RO has been living at a friend’s house. The RO and his staff have a crucial role in the whole process including conducting the elections. When contacted, a senior district administration officer said that the RO and his staff will be provided an office and other facilities in the current week.
