Local Elections: Wattoo wants judicial officers as ROs
He said that it was not possible to hold free and fair elections under the supervision of government officers
LAHORE:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) central Punjab president Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo on Wednesday criticised the appointment of government officers as returning officers. “Parties have demanded the appointment of judicial officers to ensure fair, transparent and impartial by-elections and local bodies elections,” he said. He said that it was not possible to hold free and fair elections under the supervision of government officers. “The economic package for farmers is too little and too late,” he said.
