MINGORA:

At least two people died while eight others were injured in separate incidents in Swat on Wednesday.

In Balakot, a passenger van travelling to Kalam plunged into a ravine. As a result, a teenager was killed and the driver of the vehicle was injured. Nazir Bacha, an official of Bahrain police station, told The Express Tribune the vehicle slipped and fell into the ravine due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

In a separate incident, a minor girl died while four others were injured when a vehicle met with an accident. Tayyab Khan, the deceased’s father who was also injured, told the police the incident occurred in Chuprial, Matta.

“Tayyab said he and his family were travelling to Mingora when the accident took place,” said a Matta police officer. “The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a stream.”

Three labourers injured

Three labourers were wounded when the roof of an under-construction building collapsed in Manyar early Wednesday. A Mingora policeman, said, “Three labourers were working in the building and were trapped.”

Locals pulled Sajid Khan, Luqman and Fida Hussain out of the debris and the labourers were rushed to the hospital.
