A two-day capacity building session to bring MPAs up to speed on Public Accounts Committee (PAC) rules concluded on Wednesday. The programme was organised under the Citizen’s Voice for Effective Legislative Governance project launched by Pak Women Organisation. Various politicians and members of the PAC, including PTI’s Shaukat Yousafzai, QWP’s Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, JUI’s-F Syed Mufti Janan, PTI’s Qurban Ali Khan, ANP’s Sardar Hussain Babak, and K-P Accountant General and finance officials attended the session. K-P Assembly Additional Secretary Amjid Ali briefed participants on assembly rules and procedures related to the PAC in budget analysis. He said the PAC played a key role in helping the provincial legislature scrutinise the execution of the budget. “The PAC can be used by the assembly to increase its oversight on the financial operations of the government and its agencies.”
