KALLAR SYEDAN: The decomposed body of a local writer and journalist was recovered from a forest area in Mizar Kambli Village near Gujar Khan on Wednesday.

Though, the police was informed about presence of the body of Dilpazir Shad on Tuesday at around 4pm, it did not bother to take necessary action.

On Wednesday morning, a police team visited the area and shifted Shad’s body to Gujar Khan Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Shad’s son Jamil Qalandar said that his father had gone missing some two weeks ago.

He said some drug addicts had attempted to snatch cash from his father recently and he had beaten them up. He said that it was possible that they might have murdered his father.

A local resident, Dr Raja Amjad, said that when he heard about presence of the body, he immediately informed the police but SP Muhammad Anwar Javed did not bother.

Investigation Officer Muhammad Anwar Saleem said Shad apparently died a natural death. However, confirmation could only be made after postmortem report was received.

MPA Iftikhar Ahmed Warsi said that the delay in shifting the body was criminal negligence and the responsible should be punished.

Shad authored a number of books and had command over Potohari, Punjabi and Urdu languages.

He was former president of Potohari Literary Sangat as well as chief editor of a local newspaper ‘Sang Potohari’.

He also taught at Government High School Kallar Syedan.
