Climbing the ladder: Education dept promotes 596 lecturers

The Sindh government's education and literacy department has promoted 596 college lecturers after five years. The official notification was released by education secretary Fazlullah Pechuho on Wednesday night. It states that the departmental selection committee recommended promotion of 552 college lecturers (BS-17) to assistant professors (BS-18). The decision was approved by the department after much deliberation. Moreover, 308 female and 288 male teachers were promoted.

"The promotions will motivate the teachers as they have been waiting for it since many years," Pechuho told The Express Tribune. Their promotion from grade 17 to 18 has been done after five years, he claimed. But these lecturers have been waiting for their promotions for much longer, he said. "As far as I know no promotion has been done since 2010."
