LAHORE:
District and Sessions Judge Bahadar Ali Khan granted bail on Thursday to 173 prisoners undergoing trials. Khan visited the Camp Jail and granted bail to 173 prisoners accused of involvement in petty crime. Later, he visited the kitchen, the juvenile ward and the prison hospital and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. Hundreds of prisoners were granted bail Model Town, Cantt and district courts. They are accused of gambling, drinking, and scuffles. More than 500 people got bail from the district court, nearly 400 at Model Town courts and 300 at Cantt courts this week. Muhammad Zahid, one of the men released on bail ahead of Eid, told The Express Tribune that he had been arrested for rash driving a few days ago. “This is the first time I have been arrested,” he said. “I was afraid that the court would not grant me bail and I would have to spend the Eid in jail.” “I am relieved to be going home now,” he said.
