National Press Club polls today

The polling will start at 10 am and continue without a break till 7 pm.

Elections for the offices and governing body members of the National Press Club for the year 2011 will be held on Wednesday, according to an NPC press release.

The polling, which will take place on NPC premises in F-6/1, will start at 10 am and continue without a break till 7 pm, announced Election Committee Chairperson Nasir Zaidi.

Mohsin Raza Khan of the Professional Liberal Panel and Afzal Butt of the Journalist Panel will be contesting against each other.

For the post of vice president, Abdul Khalid Khattak, Abdul Razzaq Sial, Baqir Sajjad Syed, Khwaja Shafqat, Waheed Yousaf and Wasim Khan are in the run.

For the post of secretary, Arshad Waheed Chaudhry of the Professional Liberal Panel and Asim Qadeer Rana of
the Journalists panel, are in the run.

Six aspirants are vying for the post of joint secretary:Akmal Shehzad, Attaullah Rajar, Aziz Malik, Khurram Butt, Nayyar Waheed Rawat and Qazi Usman. Jahangir Minhas and Tanzeela Mazhar are contesting for the office of finance secretary.

For the 11 governing body seats, 34 candidates are in the run: Asif Bhatti, Babra Rizvi, Fida Muhammad Khan, Ghulam Mustafa, Hamid Habib, Haroon Kamal Raja, Javaid Ahmad Soomro, Kamal Azfar, Khawar Nawaz Raja, Mian Shahid Mehmood, Muhammad Fayyaz Raja, Muhammad Nawaz Raza, Muhammad Shafique, Pakhtoon Khan, Qazi Bilal Saeed, Qazi Muhammad Asif, Raja Muddassar, Rashid Malik, Syed Qalbe Ali, Sardar Ashiq Hussain, Shahid Sultan, Syed Nasir Abbas Naqvi, Syed Qaisar Abbas Shah, Syed Raza Hassan, Uzair Ahmed Khan, Zahid Abbasi and Zulfikar Ali Khan.
