Fighting terrorism: ‘Pakistanis should be awarded Nobel Peace Prize’

Pakistan has rendered most sacrifices in the war against terrorism, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri said on Monday.

He was addressing party workers via video link from London, on the World Peace Day. He said Pakistan had lost more than 50,000 lives in the war. “A Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded to the 200 million people of Pakistan.”

Qadri said Pakistan Army’s Operation Zarb-i-Azb had given people hope. He said the country could be rid of terrorism if the National Action Plan against terrorism was properly implemented. He said Pakistan had made headway as far as literary and education was concerned.

“Pakistan’s message for the world is peace. We have been delivering this message across the world,” the PAT chief said. He said the people of Pakistan understood their responsibilities and it was time that other countries fulfil their responsibilities. He said Islam preaches love and peace.
