Around 1,000 patients have been treated at a free medical camp set up for residents of various areas of Kurram Agency who had recently been repatriated from various internally displaced persons (IDP) camp on Saturday.

Kurram Agency Surgeon Dr Moeen Begum said they had set up a medical camp with the cooperation of FATA Health Directorate and the political administration for the recently repatriated residents of Upper Kurram. “Around 1,000 patients, including children, were treated and provided with free medicine,” she added.

Moeen said the political administration had directed them to provide health facilities to the tribespeople and the camp was the first fundamental step. “More facilities will be developed and established soon,” assured the doctor.

The people of Shalozan Tangi, Khiwa, Naray and other areas of Upper Kurram Agency had left their homes due to military operations in the area and were living in various IDP camps.
