Hydroelectric power: PM to start work on 100MW plant
Areas of mutual interest and cooperation in power sector development came under discussion in the meeting
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to perform the ground breaking of a 100-megawatt hydropower project in Gulpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, on October 15. This was told during a meeting between Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Ambassador of South Korea Dr Song Jong Hwan. Areas of mutual interest and cooperation in power sector development came under discussion in the meeting. The ambassador also spoke about the progress on the 154MW Patrinad hydropower project in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and hoped that it would be completed before the scheduled time, which is December 2016. The minister lauded the role of Korean companies in the power sector development and assured them of the government’s full support.
