Bad deal: Man issued notice for selling ‘defective’ battery

Muhammad Yasrab Kiani said the respondent had given a six-month warranty on the purchase

A consumer court issued a notice on Friday to a man in a Rs2 million suit filed against him for selling a defective battery to the petitioner.



Muhammad Yasrab Kiani told the court that on April 18, he had bought a battery for Rs9,100 from Hafiz Mustafa, the proprietor of UPS Battery and Generator House in Iqbal Town. He said the respondent had given a six-month warranty on the purchase. He said the battery had later stopped working. He said Mustafa had refused to replace it or return the amount to him. He requested the court to direct the respondent to pay Rs2 million in damages.
