KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued on Thursday notices to the interior secretary and the director-general of the Federal Investigation Agency on a fresh plea against the detention of Moazzam Ali Khan, who was recently interrogated by the Scotland Yard for Dr Imran Farooq's murder.

Saadia Bano, the suspect's wife, said the Rangers had arrested her husband from their house on April 12 and had placed him in 90-day preventive detention under section 11EEEE of the Anti-Terrorism Act. She had challenged his detention by filing a petition against the paramilitary force.

Meanwhile, the Frontier Crops claimed to have arrested two suspects - Shamim Khalid and Mohsin Ali - from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Chaman on June 17. They were subsequently handed over to the FIA for interrogation. Later, the federal authorities informed the SHC that Moazzam Ali Khan's custody was also handed over to the FIA for interrogation in connection with Dr Farooq's murder.
