Stepping it up: 300 commandos to provide security to traffic police

KARACHI:

Nearly 300 commandos of the Rapid Response Force of the Sindh Police will provide protection to the traffic police following the series of attacks targeting them in the metropolis.

This was decided in a meeting chaired by the traffic police chief additional IG at his office on Thursday. The meeting also demanded more arms, bulletproof jackets and motorcycles for the traffic police from the Sindh IG.

Five traffic police officials and personnel have so far lost their lives while nearly half a dozen have been wounded in five attacks in the past few days by armed motorcyclists at their regular points in Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sher Shah, Mai Kolachi Road and Nazimabad.
