Shabqadar. A Frontier Corps (FC) convoy was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on Mohmand-Shabqadar Road in Pandyali tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Thursday. No casualties have been reported.

An official of the political administration in Lower Mohmand Agency told The Express Tribune the device was planted by the roadside and went off as the convoy passed through the area.

The political administration and FC later conducted a search operation and closed Mohmand-Shabqadar Road at Ekka Ghund and Ghallanai check posts.

As a result, the flow of traffic to and from Mohmand and Bajaur agencies was disrupted at both check posts from 9am to 12pm. The administrations arrested seven suspects under the collective responsibility clause of FCR.

This is the second militant attack in Pandyali tehsil. Last week, two peace committee volunteers and the wife of a peace volunteer were killed in an IED blast in a hand grenade attack in Dawizai.
