Defiant shopkeepers

HYDERABAD: The defiance of shopkeepers in closing down their shops by the 8 pm deadline is not altogether unexpected. These people just want to make a profit at whatever cost and don’t really care what happens to the country as a whole. Their argument that the bulk of customers come to shop after office hours is not very solid given that many other countries have normal business hours – and consumers manage just fine. The government needs to be firm with them on this issue and should not give in to them because that will send a wrong signal.
