Missing in action: GDA sacks 41 employees
They were warned, yet they failed to obey orders, says Administration Director Raza Habib

The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) sacked 41 of its employees on Tuesday for remaining absent from duty.
Earlier, a batch of 25 employees was also shown the door on similar charges, official sources said.
According to GDA Administration Director Raza Habib, the 41 employees, hired as traffic wardens on a contract basis about two months ago, were found missing in action.
They were warned, yet they failed to obey orders, he said. According to Habib, they were deputed at a cleanliness drive in Galiyat region, but they refused to take part or attend duty for even a single day. This forced authorities to take action against them.
He said all of the sacked workers were contractual employees and were hired for a period of three to six months as a routine practice. He added 25 contractual workers were sacked earlier on the same charges on August 25.
To a question, Habib said efforts are under way to undertake tourist-friendly measures in Galiyat Valley, including a food street.
