An official of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) told APP that a westerly wave of weak to moderate intensity will generate south-westerly winds with a cloud-cover in the next two to three days.
The country is witnessing severe cold weather conditions, especially in upper parts of the country. The temperature dropped to –1 degrees celsius in the federal capital during the last two days, the official said. He said that isolated rain is expected in north-eastern and central parts of Punjab on Wednesday or Thursday, which will reduce the night temperature down to 3 to 5 degrees celsius.
Foggy/misty conditions are likely to subside during the period. However, dense or moderate fog will continue to cover different sectors of Motorways and National Highways till mid January 2011.
