Behind bars: PPP leaders visit Shah in jail

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party leaders continue their visits to Karachi Central Jail after one of the party's parliamentarian, Ali Nawaz Shah, was sent to prison. Shah was convicted last week in a land scam by an accountability court. Sindh Information Minister Nisar Khuhro visited Shah on Monday and said that that they expect justice from the courts and that the court's decision had some legal weakness. "Shah is being politically victimised," he said. On September 10, the National Accountability Bureau sentenced Shah to five years in prison along with two accomplices. Following the court orders, he was shifted to the Karachi jail and was paid a visit by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah only a day later who inquired about his health and urged the jail authorities to provide better facilities.
