Orders FIA, NACTA to take stringent measures to halt financial support for terror acts

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) to take prompt measures against financial sponsors of terrorists.

Chairing a meeting at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad on Monday, Nisar stressed the need for enhancing cooperation between the FIA and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to ensure measures taken are put into effect, Radio Pakistan reported.

Nisar said war against terrorists may be difficult but it is not impossible to win, adding that the government was determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country at all cost.

Participants of the meeting shared their views on getting hold of financial resources of terrorists.

Representatives of the FIA presented details of dubious bank accounts, saying investigation to find the culprits controlling those accounts was underway.

On August 23, the Inter-Services Intelligence had tracked down a gang of 52 Afghan nationals with majority of them holding Pakistani identity cards. They had been accused of funneling cash into terrorist organisations.
