Repatriation plan: ‘UN agency helped over 53,000 Afghans’
Pakistan's so far this year under the UN agency’s largest and longest running voluntary repatriation programme

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has facilitated the return of over 53,166 registered Afghan refugees from Pakistan so far this year under the UN agency’s largest and longest running voluntary repatriation programme. An official source told APP that from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa this year, some 27,234 registered Afghan refugees have returned back to their homes. In addition, 11,758 from Punjab, 4,295 from Sindh, 6,255 from Balochistan, 740 refugees from Islamabad and 2,884 from Azad Jammu Kashmir also went back to Afghanistan.
