LHC application calls for Taseer disqualification
Applicant says governor violated constitution by travelling without informing speaker of the assembly.
LAHORE:
An application was filed against Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer in Lahore High Court calling for his disqualification, on Monday.
The applicant requested that the court disqualify the governor as he had violated Article 104 of the constitution when he had allegedly travelled abroad without informing the speaker of the provincial assembly. A spokesperson for the Governor’s House had denied that the governor travelled abroad, stating that he was on a private visit to Sukkur.
Governor Punjab, Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the governor's personal secretary have been made party in the application.
